When BMW debuted the Hydrogen 7 in 2006 we were excited to be seeing a new kind of car. The fact that it ran on both hydrogen and gasoline seemed like a good idea at the time. Although now with the raising gas prices no one is in any mood to do this.
Yet, is seems hard not to have it because of the way that the V12 engine has been designed. The hydrogen part of the engine contains -253° Centigrade liquid hydrogen that can run for 125 miles. The gasoline part of the tank can hold up to 19.5 gallons of fuel that can last up to 310 miles. This makes it more convenient for consumers to use the gasoline more than the hydrogen.
BMW’s Hydrogen 7 Limited Edition vehicle seems to be making a big splash – especially in the world of the rich and famous. People are lining up to take a spin in the new vehicle in January when it arrives in Australia. Those people lining up are some of the largest stars and politicians who are eager to experience the great ride for themselves.
Australian actors Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush have already had a drive in the US and are bound to be part of the action when the emission-free limousine arrives here for lease-only evaluation. Other stars who have sat behind the wheel of the hydrogen limo include Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Richard Gere, Jay Leno, and Placido Domingo.
The new BMW Hydrogen 7, the first hydrogen powered sedan, is ever becoming a talked about vehicle. Especially now that one of the biggest names in late light comedy has decided to be one of its esteemed owners. Jay Leno, host of the Tonight Show, keeps his new ‘baby’ at his famed car garage, which has been dubbed the ‘green garage’. The name fits well with the garage because it derives most of its energy from steam power.
