BMW is working round the clock on the replacement for Z4 roadster. As much as they try to keep their progress hidden there always seems to be someone who is able to find where they are hiding. The video is of the test mule driving laps around the Nurburgring.
The test mule has been heavily camoflaged in order to keep people like us away – but it is obvious from the video that this is the new roadster that we have been hearing about. The information that we have been provided with so far tell us that the new roadster will be available in 2010.
Spy shots taken earlier in January led enthusiasts to beleive that BMW was finally coming out with a Z9 model. This is something that enthusiasts have been dreaming about for many years now. Unfortunately, after taking a closer look we were able to determine that this is probably just another Z4 model or even a smaller version of the Z2.
We are still now sure exactly what model it is at the moment, but we do know that this roadster will be coming with a retractable hardtop. There are gaps at the base od the windshielf that show four to six inches between the padding and the actual vehicle.
There were rumors that the new BMW Z6 will replace the BMW Z4, but this is only speculation. That’s because the new Z6 will have bigger enginess than the Z4, with bigger output and a different orientation than the Z4.
The luxury option from the Z6 will make the car to have a price arround $130.00, while the Z4 which starts at $40.000. A succesor for the Z4 will come, but in 2010 and will be named Z2. The successor to today’s Z4 will remain near $40,000 and will continue to compete against the Audi TT, Porsche Boxster and Nissan 350Z.
