BMW 'X Series' - Page 3

BMW X5 ConceptBMW will be showing off the new X5 Vision EfficientDynamics Concept at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show. This year they have proven that they are choosing for their theme to be ‘green’ and showing off this twin-turbo, 2.0 liter four cylinder diesel engine that can connect to a hybrid motor is a perfect beginning to that.

The diesel by itself can make up to 204 horsepower and 295 pound-ft. of torque. When you add the compact generator you can increase that power another 20 horsepower and 154 pound-ft. of torque. The power is spread throughout the car through the use of the eight speed gearbox.

BMW X6BMW has released more details concerning their new X6 sports coupe. There will be four different models to choose from including the xDrive50i – which will have a five-litre twin-turbocharged V8, with 408bhp and will be the most powerful production model BMW has made.

Top speed has been limited to 155mph, but 62mph can be reached in 5.4 seconds. Other engines include two diesel versions and a 3.0-litre petrol engine. This will be the third X model launched by BMW. Standard equipment will include part electric seat adjustment, 6.5-inch colour display screen with iDrive controller, two-zone climate control and ISOFIX child seat attachments in the rear.

2007 BMW X5Over 29,250 2006-2007 5-series, 6-series, and X5 SUV’s are being recalled by BMW. The vehicles have a static electricity problem that causes the V8 engine to stall while on the road.

The problem involves the engine’s electronic control unit, when temperatures are below freezing and humidity is low, according to a NHTSA defect report. Under those conditions, an electrostatic discharge can occur at pipes that deliver fuel to the engine’s injectors, causing the control unit to malfunction.
