Marko Asmer – the champion of three British Formulas – will be testing at Jerez for BMW this week on December 4th alongside the Spanish driver Javier Villa. He is hoping that this return to racing will give him the much needed credentials that he needs to make his way up to F1.
Here is what he told Autosport in an interview:
“It’s a privilege to get an opportunity to test with a top team and I want to thank Dr. Theissen and the team as I really appreciate it. Jerez is a new circuit for me but I’ve heard it’s really fun to drive. I’ve met some of the BMW Sauber team already and they are really thorough with preparations so I feel comfortable and ready. I can’t wait to drive the F1 car and help with their programme.”
Villa will make his F1 debut in his home country. Both drivers are potential candidates for BMW’s vacant test driver seat.
