Hydrogen 7When BMW debuted the Hydrogen 7 in 2006 we were excited to be seeing a new kind of car. The fact that it ran on both hydrogen and gasoline seemed like a good idea at the time. Although now with the raising gas prices no one is in any mood to do this.

Yet, is seems hard not to have it because of the way that the V12 engine has been designed. The hydrogen part of the engine contains -253° Centigrade liquid hydrogen that can run for 125 miles. The gasoline part of the tank can hold up to 19.5 gallons of fuel that can last up to 310 miles. This makes it more convenient for consumers to use the gasoline more than the hydrogen.

It seems though that BMW is changing a few things around with the newer version of the Hydrogen 7. In short it will mean the end of the gasoline tank. BMW has stated that the new version will have excellent performance and range and they will both be increased. They are planning on debuting the new version during the 2008 National Hydrogen Association Conference and also at the 2008 SAE World Congress.
