BMW created the M3 to be an incredible vehicle and has faith that everyone will have the desire to purcahse one. They are confident that it is a must have vehicle and even stated that they plan to sell more then enough vehicles to go around.
BMW stated to the automobilwoche, the German paper industry, that they plan to sell more than 100,000 brand new M3’s. They beleive that there are more than enough willing customers all over who will want to show off the vehicle as their own.
The lofty sales target for the latest generation E90-based M3 has apparently been revealed by a BMW M division representative. BMW sold 90,000 examples of its previous M3, the E46 model, before it was discontinued. Compare that to the 18,000 sales of the original E30 and it goes to show that the M3 brand has evolved into a mass-market product in its own right.
