Nuerburgring's Nordschleife FacilityThe life of BMW’s test drivers, engineers, and mechanics got a little bit easier with the completion of a newly expanded workshop facility at the Nuerburgring’s Nordschleife (north loop).

The new facility measures 12,440 square feet and has been expanded from four work bays to 11, plus a wash center and wheel alignment facility. In addition, to keep in touch with BMW research centers in Munich and Garching, there’s now an office area with room for 30 workstations or laptop with high-speed data links. There are also two exhibition and conference rooms, along with a “leisure wing” with a common room.

Best of all, the facility is open to BMW CCA members for use to check e-mail, freshen up, or wash their BMWs (BMWs only), just by showing proof of club membership. BMW recommends calling ahead the day before.

The Nordschliefe is the famed former Formula One course built in the post World War I years. It runs 12.9 miles with 73 corners and was too dangerous and technically difficult to staff (or cover on TV), so it gave way as an F1track, but is still used for testing and others races, plus civilians can pay to drive hot laps.
